Carol Ann Cohen, 68, died Jan. 28, 2015 in Fairfax, Va.
Mrs. Cohen was born in Oak Park, Ill., and moved to Tucson in 1956. She taught Sunday school for Temple Emanu-El in Nogales, Ariz. Mrs. Cohen graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in journalism and English and worked at the Daily Wildcat. She was the first female copy editor at the Arizona Daily Star. She married Stephen Cohen in 1968 and they moved to Virginia, where she was a reporter for the Richmond Times-Dispatch. She became the chief copy editor at Strode Publishing in Huntsville, Ala., and then was the public information officer for the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority. She taught Sunday school and was a volunteer at three synagogues (Reform, Conservative and Chabad Lubavitch) in Fairfax and was also a substitute teacher at the Gesher Jewish Day School.
Mrs. Cohen was preceded in death by her sister, Diana Rohler. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Stephen Cohen; children, Rochelle Cohen of Fairfax and David Cohen of Austin, Texas; and sister, Betty L. McLane-Iles of Kirksville, Mo.
Services and interment were in Falls Church, Va.
