Dr. Allen Erenberg, 72, died Nov. 20, 2015.
Born in Chicago, Dr. Erenberg attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine and graduated in 1967 with an MD degree. He received his neonatology training in Torrance, Calif., served in the United States Air Force Medical Corp for two years, and then went to the University of Iowa where he became chairman of the department of neonatology. He later served as chairman of the department of pediatrics at the University of Kansas Medical Center and medical director of Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif. Dr. Erenberg then came to Tucson, where he was section head of neonatology at University Medical Center. He retired in 2007. He was immediate past president and member of Congregation Or Chadash.
Dr. Erenberg is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Howie (Heidi) Erenberg of Overland Park, Kan., Sheryl (Ariel Centurion) Erenberg of Egan, Minn., stepson, Nick (Anissa) Snyder of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Dr. Gerald (Shulameth) Erenberg of Cleveland, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Services were held in Evergreen Mortuary with Rabbi Thomas Louchheim of Congregation Or Chadash officiating. Interment followed in the Or Chadash section of Evergreen Cemetery.
