Temple Project Elul blends meditation, activity

Temple Emanu-El has launched Project Elul, a month-long program designed to assist in preparing for the High Holy Days.

“While the gates of repentance are always open, it is better to prepare to enter them, including reflecting back on the past year, and taking stock, engaging in what is called cheshbon nefesh,” says Rabbi Batsheva Appel.

Each day for the Hebrew month of Elul (through Sept. 24) participants will meet at 6 a.m. at locations around Tucson for a reading on the theme of the day, followed by walking, yoga and guided meditation, gathering again at 7 a.m. for the sounding of the Shofar.
