LOGAN RIEGEL was awarded a scholarship to participate in the Galway Flute Festival in Athens, Ga., June 26-July 1. Logan was coached by Lady Jeanne Galway and participated in master classes on orchestral music, chamber ensemble music and jazz improvisation taught by Sir James Galway. She has been playing flute for eight years.
SHARON MEGDAL, director of the Water Resources Research Center at the University of Arizona, was part of a panel of experts who gave a special briefing at the United Nations June 19 on how Israeli technology can be shared to help reduce the impact arid climate has had on countries with limited water supply. The briefing was arranged by the Jewish National Fund and its partners.
Former U.S. Rep. GABRIELLE GIFFORDS was among five individuals and organizations honored with a Jefferson Award celebrating public service. Giffords received the U.S. Senator John Heinz Award for Greatest Public Service by an Elected Official from the Jefferson Awards Foundation, founded in 1972. The ceremony was held June 18 in Washington, D.C.
