Disabilities focus for HYLT event

Handmaker Youth Leadership Team will hold a multi-generational event with a disabilities awareness theme on Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m.

Youth volunteers and Handmaker residents will learn strategies for communicating with people who have hearing loss, how daily life is affected by vision loss and how daily life is affected by aging. Guest speaker Janis Gasch, Au.D., will present information on how to maintain hearing and tips for communicating with someone who has already lost some hearing. Janet Kells, a Handmaker resident, will demonstrate how she copes with daily activities as someone who became blind as an adult.
