Bryna Ben-Asher

Bryna Shirley Ben-Asher, 78, died on June 14, 2014.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Ben-Asher received her bachelor’s of science in physical therapy from the University of Buffalo, where she met M. David Ben-Asher. They married in 1956 and moved to Tucson in 1964. She served on the Catalina Foothills District School Board for seven years, including a term as board president. Her work as a physical therapist was followed by a second career as a travel agent. After retiring in 2007, Mrs. Ben-Asher was an educator with the Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalists and a member of the Santa Catalina Volunteer Patrol.

Mrs. Ben-Asher was preceded in death by her brother Sanford (Carol) Zeller, infant son Steven Ben-Asher, and daughter Susan Rachel (Jon) Newton. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, David; children, Nancy Ben-Asher (Tidhar) Ozeri, Judith Ben-Asher (Dan) Hirshfeld, and Jonathan Ben-Asher, all of Tucson; brother Robert (Susan) Zeller of Houston; and five grandchildren.

Services were held in Evergreen Mortuary with Rabbis Robert Eisen and Arthur Oleisky officiating. Interment followed in the Congregation Anshei Israel section of Evergreen Cemetery.
