AJP writer wins first place Rockower Award from AJPA

Rock1st.inddThe Arizona Jewish Post has won a first place Simon Rockower Award for Excellence in Jewish Journalism from the American Jewish Press Association.

“Warmth, eye-opening perspective for local firefighters in Israel” by freelance writer Nancy Ben-Asher Ozeri won the excellence in feature writing award for newspapers with circulation un­der 7,500. The article, which chronicled Southern Arizona’s first “Firefighters Without Borders” mission to Israel in October, appeared in the Nov. 8, 2013 issue and can be read online at https://azjewishpost.com/?p=26519.

Since 2007, the AJP has won six Rockower awards, taking the first place spot four times.

The 2014 Rockower Awards will be presented at the AJPA’s annual conference, which will be held in Washington, D.C., in November 2014, alongside the Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly.
