Transportation program gears up for holidays

Rides to synagogue programs and services – including High Holy Days celebrations – are available for seniors and adults with disabilities through a special grant program. The program, “Tucson Community Shared Transportation for Seniors and Adults with Disabilities,” has a new phone number: 465-4323.

The Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona’s Task Force for Jewish Seniors and Adults with Disabilities funds the grant. If you are a senior (60+) or are an adult (18 to 59) with disabilities and have no way to attend religious services, cultural events or educational programs, call to schedule a ride.

The grant provides door-to-door service to 10 synagogues in the Tucson area: Temple Emanu-El, Chabad of Tucson, and Congregations Anshei Israel, Bet Shalom, Chaverim, Chofetz Chayim, Kol Simchah, M’Kor Hayim, Or Chadash and Young Israel, and to religious or cultural events co-sponsored by any of these synagogues at the Tucson Jewish Community Center or other designated venues.
