“Sunfish,” a musical with lyrics by Nogales, Ariz., native MICHAEL COOPER, won the top jury honor for musical theater production at the Daegu International Musical Festival in Korea. Cooper is the son of Liane and David Capin Cooper and grandson of Bette and Leonard Cooper and Joan and Alfred Lipsey, all of Tucson.
GARY COHEN was voted into the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame earlier this month. A Tucson native, he played tennis at Canyon Del Oro High School from 1986 to 1990, winning numerous titles, and was a four-year letterman on the varsity tennis team at Northwestern University, where his team won the 1990 Big Ten Conference Title. He co-founded a tennis program for high school students in Tucson called Pride Tennis and has coached and volunteered for tennis and other community programs. Cohen is a partner at Mesch, Clark & Rothschild.
New York Times best-selling author RHODY COHON has released a new children’s book with co-author Stacia Deutsch, “Lucky Phoo,” about the adoption of a stray dog. A recent e-book release party benefited the National Humane Society.
