ot-Boris H (41)BORIS KOZOLCHYK, president and director of the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade, has been selected by the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as its 2013 Legacy Award honoree. One of the world’s leading experts on the utilization of commercial law as a tool for economic development, Kozolchyk has represented the United States at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, the International Chamber of Commerce and the Organization of American States. He is the Evo DeConcini Professor of Law at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law. The award will be presented Oct. 26 at the Noche de Exitos Gala and Bi-National awards at Casino del Sol Resort.

 

THE DANIEL AND RONI ASHFORD FAMILY received the 2013 Daniel Moreno Recovery Award Oct. 4 at the 5th Annual Daniel Moreno Award Dinner presented by the Aurora Foundation. The award was introduced in 2007 by Susan Moreno after her son Daniel committed suicide while receiving treatment for schizophrenia. The award recognizes “local individuals who have inspired hope and who signify the determination and passion it takes to advocate, educate and support those living with mental illness as well as an individual that personally represents the path of recovery.”

 

ot Dr. Jerome Lerner - Medical Director at Sierra TucsonJEROME “JERRY” LERNER, M.D., has been appointed medical director of Sierra Tucson, which specializes in the treatment of addictions, eating disorders, mood disorders, complex pain management and trauma/PTSD.

Lerner joined Sierra Tucson in December 2010 as chief of pain medicine and has served as interim medical director since December 2012. He received his medical education and specialty training at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and a diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. Lerner is the former medical director of Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Hospital, Mount Carmel Health and Rehabilitation Center, Performance Enhancement Rehabilitation, and the Center for Integrative Pain and Rehab. He operated a private practice for 15 years and developed and operated Selfcares, a wellness spa. He has been a clinical instructor at the Medical College of Wisconsin for over 20 years.
