Harold Kitay, 84, died June 26, 2013.
A Tucson entrepreneur for 54 years, Mr. Kitay founded a chain of building supply stores in California and Arizona and was involved in the manufacturing of home products. He was active in real estate in Southern Arizona as a founding partner of Whirlygig Properties. Mr. Kitay served on the board of trustees of the Tucson Museum of Art and was a retired member of the board of the Bank of Tucson. In addition, he was a fundraiser for many local charities and organizations. He was most recently involved with the Native American Advancement Foundation, helping end the cycle of poverty through education.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Pearl; children, Barry (Holly) Kitay and Nancy Galdi, both of Tucson; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
