ALIYA MALKA MARKOWITZ, daughter of Ilana and Neil Markowitz, will celebrate becoming a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 with Congregation Chaverim at the Westward Look Resort.
She is the granddaughter of Jana Klenburg of New York, Barbara Potashkin of New Jersey, the late Herb Potashkin, the late Marvin Markowitz, Etta Olmsted of Tucson and the late Bob Boss.
Aliya is an honor student at Tucson Hebrew Academy. She enjoys making videos, handmade cards, dancing, singing, acting and playing soccer.
For her mitzvah project, she will donate a portion of her gifts to Charity Water, an organization that brings clean drinking water to communities in developing nations. She will also be fundraising and giving presentations about this organization to her school, congregation, community center and both of her parents’ workplaces.
