The Women’s Philanthropy Advisory Council of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona is accepting applications for the Seventh Annual Bryna Zehngut Mitzvot Award, recognizing an outstanding Jewish teenage girl.
The award, which honors the late Zehngut, will recognize a girl who is currently a high school junior or senior who has shown leadership through her community organizational work or volunteer activities and has been a role model in enhancing community awareness through Jewish values. The award recipient will receive a gift of $613, relating to the Jewish tradition of 613 mitzvot, to be used toward participation on a trip to Israel or another Jewish leadership or educational program. The winner will be recognized by Women’s Philanthropy during the 2013 Connections Brunch on March 3, at the Tuson Jewish Community Center.
Nominations, which must include the nominee’s resume, a letter of recommendation and a brief statement of her intended use for the award money, must be postmarked by Tuesday, Jan. 22. For an application form, contact Brenda Landau at 577-9393, ext. 134 or blandau@jfsa.org.
