Pima County Attorney BARBARA LAWALL will receive the Public Service Award at the American Jewish Committee’s Judge Learned Hand Awards luncheon on March 14 in Phoenix. She is being honored for her contributions to the advancement of equality and democratic principles through her work in the nonprofit and public sectors. LaWall worked for the Pima County Attorney’s Office for almost 20 years before being elected to head the office in 1996.

 

DEBRA S. JACOBS has co-authored “Everyday Activities to Help Your Young Child with Autism Live Life to the Full,” published last month by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. An occupational therapist for 30 years, Jacobs earned a specialty certification in autism from Thomas Jefferson University. She is one of nine occupational therapists in the country to earn this certification. She has a private practice in Tucson and works for the Tucson Unified School District.

 

A novel by GERMAINE SHAMES, “You, Fascinating You,” inspired by the life of Jewish ballerina Margit Wolf, will be published next month by Pale Fire Press. Shames is the author of “Between Two Deserts” and two earlier nonfiction books, and is a former foreign correspondent and contributor to Hemispheres, More and National Geographic Traveler.
