Alan Cohen, 84, died June 28, 2012.
Born in Portland, Ore., Mr. Cohen attended the University of Oregon and was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. He played professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians and for the old Tucson Cowboys during the 1950s. He started an independent insurance agency in 1960.
Mr. Cohen was preceded in death by his brother Edwin Cohen and son-in-law David Woods. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Leatrice; children, Carin Woods of Glendale, Ariz., David Cohen of San Diego, Calif., and Scott Cohen of Phoenix; sister-in-law, Ilaine Cohen; and five grandchildren.
Services were held at Evergreen Mortuary with Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky officiating. Interment followed in the Congregation Anshei Israel section of Evergreen Cemetery.
