Teen nominees sought for Zehngut award

The Women’s Philanthropy Advisory Council of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona is accepting nominations for the Sixth Annual Bryna Zehngut Mitzvot Award, recognizing an outstanding Jewish girl who is currently a high school junior or senior.

The award, named for the late community leader, will honor a teen who has shown leadership through her community organizational work or volunteer activities and has been a role model in enhancing community awareness through Jewish values.

The award recipient will receive a gift of $613, relating to the Jewish tradition of 613 mitzvot, to be used toward participation on a trip to Israel or another Jewish leadership or educational program.

The winner will be recognized by the Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona during the 2012 Connections Brunch, with special guest Mayim Bialik, on Feb. 19 at the Tucson Jewish Community Center.
