The Secular Humanist Jewish Circle will hold an observance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson, 4831 E. 22nd St.
Rabbi Jack Silver, newly ordained secular humanist rabbi who is a member of Congregation Or Adam in Phoenix, will lead the service, which will include opportunities for congregational participation and music.
Silver, who sees the Torah as a compilation of human experiences, many written in metaphorical form, will draw upon such stories as they relate to our modern ethical dilemmas and challenges.
Sign-in and socializing will begin at 9:30 a.m. The program will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a light lunch. After lunch, Silver will lead a discussion based on the themes introduced during his morning talk.
