Philip “Achilles” Travers, 76, died May 30, 2011.
Born in Neptune, N.J., Mr. Travers graduated from Asbury Park High School in New Jersey and attended Campbell College in North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic from 1956-1958. He worked in the atomic energy field while living in Florida, New Jersey and Ohio. Mr. Travers retired to Tucson in 1977 and was a volunteer with TMC Hospice for over 20 years.
Survivors include his brothers, Jerry (Judy) Travers and Joe (Lydia) Travers, both of New Jersey; and sister, Jenny Travers Bouza of Connecticut.
A memorial service was held at Congregation Or Chadash with Rabbi Thomas Louchheim officiating. Arrangements were made by Adair Funeral Homes.
