JOYCE FINKELSTEIN of Green Valley has been selected by AARP to receive Arizona’s 2011 AARP State Andrus Award for Community Service. Finkelstein serves on the board of Green Valley Recreation as treasurer. She is secretary of the Greater Green Valley Community Foundation and a member of its allocations and campaign committees. She has been a member of the Volunteer Clearinghouse and the Mature Worker Connection in Green Valley; served as executive director of Green Valley Community Coordinating Council, where she helped launch “Walk Across Arizona,” a social/exercise initiative; and is immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Green Valley, where she started programs including “Coats for Kids” and “Food for Thought,” book donations for the local food bank. She served on the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona’s Task Force on Services for Jewish Seniors and Persons with Disabilities.
STEPHEN SELTZER has been appointed vice president of learning opportunities for the Brandeis National Committee’s National Executive Board, based in Waltham, Mass. Seltzer, a retired nephrologist, is a longtime member of the Tucson chapter and is currently its vice president of publications and chair of the Eat Dessert First Fellows men’s group.
