Lillian Kaplan Hameroff, 95, died Dec. 16, 2011.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Hameroff worked in offices through the Great Depression, and helped her family rescue relatives from Europe prior to the Holocaust. After World War II, she met U.S. Army soldier Harry Hameroff. They married, moved to Buffalo, N.Y., and then Cleveland, Ohio, and later, Miami, Fla. Her husband died in 1980 and Mrs. Hameroff moved to Tucson in the early 1990s to be with her children and their families.
Survivors include her children, Stuart (Samantha) Hameroff and Amy Hameroff (John C. Scott) Ulm, both of Tucson; brother, Willie Kaplan; brother-in-law, Eugene Hameroff; and one grandson.
Services were held at Evergreen Mortuary with Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon officiating. Interment followed in the Temple Emanu-El section of Evergreen Cemetery.
