Jerry Sorkin

Jerry Sorkin, 77, died Feb. 10, 2011.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Mr. Sorkin grew up in Passaic, N.J. , where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Cohen. Mr. Sorkin was a captain in the U.S. Air Force before beginning his career in engineering and aerospace in Southern Arizona. He was vice president of Dyncorp and director of Bell Aerospace and often served as a judge for the Southern Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Fair.

Mr. Sorkin was preceded in dea­th by his granddaughter, Emily Sorkin. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; children, Betsy Sorkin Lomaga and Jeff (Jolene) Sorkin, both of Tucson; brother Stan (Edie) Sorkin of Connecticut; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at the Evergreen Mortuary with Rabbi Robert Eisen officiating. Interment followed in the Congregation Anshei Israel section of Evergreen Cemetery.
