Dr. Leonard Joffe, ophthalmologist and retina specialist, will present “Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Recent Advances in the Management of this Condition” at a Hadassah education meeting and brunch later this month.
Macular degeneration is one of the hottest research topics in ophthalmology and many advances in its treatment have been made in the last 10 years.
The macula, the light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye, is where central vision originates, enabling such activities as reading and driving.
Joffe received his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, trained at Will Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and has been recognized as one of the “Best Doctors in America” by his peers.
The brunch will be held on Sunday, March 27 at 11:30 a.m. at Skyline Country Club. To reserve, send a check for $18 to Hadassah at 4301 E. 5th Street, Tucson, AZ 85711 by March 20. For more information, call 886-9919.
