Ethel Timan, 96, died May 21, 2011.
Born in New York, Mrs. Timan graduated from New York University with a degree in biology. She moved to Tucson in 1957 and worked as a substitute teacher. She later became a real estate agent. In 1978, when her husband, Jerry, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she became a founding member of the National Alzheimer’s Association.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Juvy) Timan of Watsonville, Calif., Margo (Bob) Hackett of Berkeley, Calif., and Jeff (Robyn) Timan of Tucson; sister, Doris Nelson of Tucson; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Hacienda del Sol. Arrangements were made by Evergreen Mortuary & Cemetery.
