Holocaust survivor Irving Roth will be the keynote speaker when Christians United for Israel at the University of Arizona hosts its second Night to Honor Israel. The dinner event will take place on Monday, April 11, the 66th anniversary of Roth’s liberation from the Buchenwald concentration camp. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the UA Student Union Grand Ballroom and is “a strictly non-conversionary, interfaith gathering,” says Rain Borchardt, CUFI at UA president.
Roth is director of the Holocaust Resource Center at Temple Judea of Manhasset, N.Y. He is the former education director of the Holocaust Memorial and Education Center of Nassau County and has earned a Spirit of Anne Frank Award from the Anne Frank Center USA.

More than 350 people attended last year’s event, which raised over $3,000 for the Family Treatment Center in Hof Ashkelon (part of Tucson’s TIPS partnership region in Israel).
Community supporters and partners this year include AIPAC, America-Israel Friendship League, Congregation Anshei Israel, Faith Community Church — East, University of Arizona Hillel Foundation and Ironwood Hills Church.
CUFI at U of A is an affiliate of the national organization founded by Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Christian Center in San Antonio, Texas. CUFI’s goal is to unite pro-Israel clubs, groups, and individuals in support of the State of Israel, says Borchardt, by educating interested individuals about Middle East issues.
