Fred Brickman

obit_brickman from starFred Edward Brickman, M.D., 70, died May 19, 2016.

Born in Chicago and raised in New Orleans, Dr. Brickman was a member of the first graduating class of Benjamin Franklin High School in 1964. He earned a chemistry degree at Washington University and a medical degree at Louisiana State University. His  internal medicine internship was at the Dallas VA Medical Center, his radiology residency was at Parkland Memorial Hospital, followed by an ultrasound fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University. He met his wife in New Orleans during medical school and they married soon after. Following his education, they settled in Tucson where Dr. Brickman had a private radiology practice, X-Ray Ltd.

Dr. Brickman was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Gary Shurman and Lee Bloom. Survivors include his wife, Rochelle “Shelley” Brickman; children, Melanie Brickman (Paul) Borchard of New York, N.Y., and Adam (Claire Martin) Brickman of Austin, Texas; sister, Robette Shurman of New Orleans; and sister-in-law, Tobie Bloom of Los Angeles.

Services were held at East Lawn Palms Chapel with Cantor Avraham Alpert of Congregation Bet Shalom officiating. Interment followed in the Congregation Bet Shalom section of East Lawn Cemetery.
