ot benzion shemtovRABBI BENZION SHEMTOV was recently featured in the Sierra Vista Herald, which reported on his 10-day visit to Jews in Southern Arizona communities including Sierra Vista, Bisbee and Green Valley (http:// svherald.com/content/sierra-vista-news/2015/07/27/397799). Shemtov, the son of Rabbi Yossie and Chanie Shemtov of Chabad of Tucson, grew up in Tucson but now lives in New York. He is exploring the possibility of establishing a Sierra Vista Chabad to provide Jewish programs and services in the area. He can be reached at bshemtovaz@gmail.com.

ot_beth-braunBETH BRAUN and Esperanza Dance Project have been nominated for a Lumies Arts & Business Award, presented by the Tucson Pima Arts Council. Braun is artistic director of EDP, which raises awareness about childhood sexual violence through multimedia performances at high schools and community events. The awards ceremony will be held Sept. 18 at the Tucson Museum of Art Plaza. Braun, who is also director of the dance program at University High School, was one of nine finalists for the 2014-15 Circle K “Teacher of the Year” award.
