‘Cirque’ theme for Chabad Chanukah event

CSA-handoutThe Velocity Circus/ Circus School of Arizona will headline Chabad of Tucson’s Cirque du Chanukah celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 5:30 p.m. at Castlehill Country Day School, 3225 N Craycroft Road (The Gregory School entrance).

Circus leader Rachel Stegman will be joined by local artists in presenting the event’s theme of “Ignite the Night” with various fire acts and stunts, including stilt walking, juggling and aerial acrobatics, along with the lighting of a large menorah and participants lighting personalized Chanukah candles.

“Chanukah celebrates the triumph of light over darkness — a message most relevant today, which we will be incorporating in this display
of light, unity and warmth,” says Rabbi Yossie Shemtov, regional director of Chabad Tucson.

This will be Chabad of Tucson’s 31st annual public menorah lighting. Last year’s event at the Reid Park Zoo drew some 500 people. Chabad affiliate centers in Southern Arizona will hold additional Chanukah celebrations.

Admission is $15 per person (free for children under the age of 2). Tickets are available at www. ChabadTucson.com/Cirqe or 795-0090.
