Blimes was most recently vice president for philanthropy at the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. He founded and served for nearly three decades as chairman of the MIDAS Consulting Group, Inc., a full-service national fundraising, marketing and strategic management consulting firm based in Denver, with offices in Phoenix and Reno, Nev. His clients in Denver included the Allied Jewish Apartments, Herzl Jewish Day School and Rose Foundation/Rose Medical Center. He has held executive fundraising positions at universities, private colleges, healthcare organizations and a national association for the protection of children and animals. A graduate of Ohio State University, he worked during college as a professional clown and skated in Holiday on Ice. He was also a member of Ohio State’s No. 1-ranked college cheerleading squad.

HANDMAKER JEWISH SERVICES FOR THE AGING received an overall rating of 5-star, “Much Above Average” during the 2013 inspection performed in June by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Medicare and Medicaid Division. Handmaker provides services in skilled nursing care, post-operative rehabilitation, adult day programs, residential assisted living and memory care.

THE STEVEN M. GOOTTER FOUN­DATION was named as the recipient from sales of the Tucson Care Card, a new charitable component of Tucson Fashion Week. Information is available at www.tucsoncarecard.org. The Steven M. Gootter Foundation, www.gootter.org, funds research into the causes and prevention of sudden cardiac death and fosters education about the disease among health care professionals and the general public.

TANA KAY JONES, director of development at the TUCSON JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER, won a “40 Under 40” award cosponsored by the Arizona Daily Star and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes young leaders who are making an impact in the community with their professional and charitable work. An awards ceremony was held Oct. 2.
